HISTORY
Glass Institute was found on the basis of a decision proclaimed by Ministry of Trade No. 49936/22 from November 29, 1922 as annexation institute of Commercial, Trade and Industrial Chamber in Hradec Kralove.
In 1923 establishing meeting was held and the title "Glass Institute" was set.
In 1936 authorization with a right to grant authorized certificates officially in glass branch was acquired.
As early as since thirty's the journal "Sklarske rozhledy" was published, in 1950 the title was changed to "Sklar a keramik". Specialized publications were well-known in the world and participation at international glass congresses and activity in International Commission on Glass (ICG) was significant.
In 1951 a right to train scientific postgraduates was acquired.
In 1952 Academic Board as the advising body of Institute director was established on the basis of the Ministry decree.
In 1956 the Glass Institute was involved into the category of scientific-research institutes by the Czechoslovak Academy presidium committee.
In 1957 it was taken as the branch institute of Ministry of Consumer Industry, later on with the title State Glass Research Institute.
In 1959 Scientific and Technical Information Centre for glass and fine ceramics on the basis of government decree was established.
In 1960 the Branch Normalization Centre was established.
In 1966 the Branch Centre for Patents and Inventions was established.
In 1970 the State Testing Laboratory No. 237 was established on the basis of the Standards and Measurements Institute document providing authorizition to evaluate and approve the products made from glass.
In 1975 the institute fused with the State Research Institute of Glass Technology in Prague.
In September 1978 the State Glass Research Institute was commissioned with a function of leading workplace for scientific and technical development of basic and applied research in glass branch.
In 1992 Sklarsky ustav, s. p. (the Glass Institute, state enterprise) originated within the framework of the first stage of privatization, which continues in tradition commenced in time of establishing the institute and SVUS a. s. (Substantial part of intangible and tangible assets has been transferred to the transformed part of SVUS a. s.).
In 1992 the State Testing Laboratory was accredited according to the Standard CSN EN 45001. The laboratory provides physical and chemical tests as Accredited Testing Laboratory No. 1027.
In 1993 publishing of the journal "Sklar a keramik" passed on the Czech Glass Society.
In 1994 the Scientific and Technical Information Centre, which was a part of SVUS a. s. within the framework of privatization in 1992-1993, was annexed to the Glass Institute.
In 1995 Certification Body No. 3019 for certification of products was accredited according to the Standard CSN EN 45011.
In 1996 Technological Centre, which was a part of SVUS a. s. within the framework of privatization in 1992-1996, was annexed to the Glass Institute.
In 1997 the Glass Institute became Authorized Body No. 237.
In 2002 (February 1) was Glass Institute, state enterprise privatized by joint-stock company BRISK Tabor (Glass Institute Hradec Kralove Ltd.). By this privatization Authorized Body No. 237 finished and to new arised legal subject Glass Institute Hradec Kralove Ltd. was granted Authorized Body No. 247.
