Solar Modules
Solar modules transform sunlight into electricity. It is generally accepted that solar modules reliably function well over 20+ years.
The technology dominating photovoltaics is based on thin slices, so-called wafers, made of pure crystalline silicon („c-Si“).
Pure silicon is extracted from the raw material quartz sand by way of complex chemical cleaning cycles.

It then is melted into blocks (ingots). These are cut into wafers, which undergo a hightech manufacturing process. The product is a solar cell that has the ability to produce and conduct a direct current (DC) when illuminated by light.

Because single solar cells produce only low voltage and are not strong enough for most applications, they are connected to form an electrical unit (solar module). In order to ensure stability, the module cell strings are encapsulated by a low-iron glass front and a protective and insulative lamination-film back. Finally, frame and electrical connectors are installed.
